Star Wars Rebels in Some Ways a Family
The Skywalker saga is complete, the Clone Wars blithe series has come to an end (sort of), Boba Fett is giving us a Baby Yoda break between seasons of The Mandalorian , and Kevin Feige is next in line for a Star Wars movie — for at present. This is to say, in that location's never been a better time to catch support on all things Star Wars, and Disney Plus has every movie and show that's currently catechism, which should make things piece of cake.
Only how to watch it? After George Lucas released his prequel trilogy, Star Wars fans debated the social club in which to devour the serial. Now, with animated and live-action spinoffs, the "proper" fashion to lookout the Star Wars saga is fifty-fifty more complicated. With all that in mind, here are a few different viewing orders to guide you, whether you're a longtime fan looking to revisit the films and shows, or a newcomer in need of a Star Wars crash form.
Watching Star Wars in chronological club
This viewing gild doesn't require much caption. This is how the events of the Star Wars universe happened on the BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) / ABY (After the Battle of Yavin) timeline. It starts with the earliest events and moves forward in fourth dimension from at that place. A couple of these may happen simultaneously, but that'south not our mistake.

Watching Star Wars in Skywalker Saga lodge
Taking a bit of inspiration from the internet-famous Ernst Rister society — originally taken from a now-deleted forum post — this list uses A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back as setup for the prequel movies, and puts more focus on Luke Skywalker. Viewing the movies and shows this way makes sure that you know where his family unit came from.
This guild diverges from the Skywalker story betwixt Revenge of the Sith and Render of the Jedi, but it gives y'all a much better context for Anakin's heroics during the Clone Wars and sets upward his redemptive moment of siding with Luke over Emperor Palpatine. As yous go into the new trilogy, it continues to put Luke at the center.

Watching Star Wars in ... galaxy encephalon club
Nosotros recommend this playlist for those who've seen all of Star Wars enough times that they desire to mix things up with a truly weird experience. This doesn't really complement any i grapheme or storyline so much every bit the series as a whole. This order should aid you take hold of all the small references from one movie or prove and connect them to the next — though you'll probably still miss a few.
In the first 3 movies, the focus is on the Rebellion. Then, at its lowest moment, nosotros switch sides to Anakin to meet how he became Darth Vader and how the Empire gained command of the galaxy. After that, nosotros see the autumn of the Empire in Return of the Jedi, and the backwash in The Mandalorian and Volume of Boba Fett.
The concluding weird piece of this order is repositioning the new trilogy with Han every bit a more central figure. Nosotros see his family struggle in The Forcefulness Awakens, and so take hold of up on his backstory with Solo. This order turns Luke giving Han'south lucky dice to Leia in The Final Jedi into a slightly more than important moment, and makes it clear that this is Luke attempting to mend some of the pain he brought to Han's family.
Note: If yous desire to go all the way on this guild, nosotros recommend watching A New Hope upwards until the planning meeting for the Battle of Yavin. At that point, swap to Rogue Ane, scout the whole matter, and so go dorsum to the remainder of A New Hope. This way, Rogue One plays a little like a heroic flashback for the Rebellion.
